You've purchased a wonderful unit and have been enjoying the many benefits of clean H2 water. But do you know when to replace the filter/s on your ionizer? Every ionizer has some sort of built-in mechanism that helps the user determine the approximate time to replace the filter. The types of filter change indicators and notifications will vary. However, it’s important to realize that these indicators are just estimates and are to be used as a guide only. No matter what the reading on your unit indicates, it’s important to replace the filter at least once a year. That means every 12 months no matter what the indicator says or how much you use the water. Here’s why. Bacteria loves to grow in damp dark places. What better place than the inside of a water filter? Every filter will have media specific to bacteria – either killing bacteria, preventing bacteria from developing inside the filter or both.  Whether or not water has been flowing through your water ionizer every day – or you have only been using it a couple of times a day – this “anti-bacterial” element never stops working. So after twelve months the filter will have lost its ability to fight bacteria and your water filter will not be able to deliver the water freshness that you desire. You will likely notice that your water has a strange taste or odour and that you are not getting the great clean fresh water that you are used to. If you smell or taste chlorine in your water after it passes through the ionizer, change your filter. If you find that the flow rate through your filter has decreased, it’s probably full of particles and now needs replacing. In the long term your ionizer may start to develop problems and will require servicing. So even though you may think you are saving pennies by trying to extend the life of your filter, you will end up paying for it in the long term when your ionizer stops working. Or, we may phone you to remind you that you are due for a filter change. We extend this courtesy to you in order to ensure that your ionizer is working to its optimum level and that you are deriving all the benefits from your unit. It might even be a good idea to purchase two filters instead of one as time has a way of creeping up on us!
